UPSC Prelims 2026 Exam Conducted Nationwide Amid Tight Security

New Delhi, May 24: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is conducting the Civil Services Preliminary Examination (CSE Prelims) across the country today. This year, approximately 819,372 candidates have registered for a total of 933 positions in the UPSC CSE 2026.

The preliminary examination is being held in two sessions in an offline OMR format. The General Studies Paper I commenced at 9:30 AM, while the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper II will take place in the afternoon.

Candidates are required to present a printed copy of their e-admit card along with a valid photo ID at their designated examination centers. To ensure smooth and fair conduct of the exam, stringent security measures have been implemented, including CCTV surveillance, jammers, and thorough checks.

Candidates expressed optimism about achieving satisfactory results. Many arrived at the Central School in Pushp Vihar, New Delhi, hopeful for a strong performance. One candidate mentioned, “I am a bit nervous, but I have prepared well. I hope to pass the exam.” Another added, “There is no fixed limit to preparation; we keep studying continuously.”

In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, candidates arrived early at the examination centers, where strict security and checks were in place. One young man commented, “The arrangements here are excellent. They are checking our biometrics and retina scans before allowing us inside.” Another candidate stated, “I feel good about the exam. I hope to perform well.”

In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, the exam is being held at 21 centers, with around 6,652 candidates participating. Vinod Singh, the in-charge of the UPSC examination center, shared details about the arrangements. “A total of 21 examination centers have been established in the district by UPSC. We have appointed eight route in-charges to ensure the question papers reach all centers on time,” he said.

One examinee expressed excitement about the exam, saying, “I am very excited about it. I hope it goes well.”
