New Delhi, May 24: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend a grand ‘Tribal Cultural Summit’ at the historic Red Fort complex in New Delhi on Sunday. This event marks the 150th birth anniversary of tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The summit is expected to draw approximately 150,000 representatives from over 550 tribal communities across the country.
This significant cultural gathering aims to celebrate tribal identity, indigenous traditions, and cultural heritage while honoring the contributions of tribal communities to India’s history and nation-building.
Prior to the summit, a crucial preparatory meeting took place at Shyam Giri Temple in New Delhi. Organizers and community representatives reviewed arrangements related to participation, cultural programs, logistics, and security.
Organized by the ‘Tribal Security Forum,’ this summit is anticipated to be one of the largest tribal gatherings ever held in the national capital. Organizers have indicated that vibrant cultural processions featuring tribal men and women in traditional attire, carrying their customary instruments, will commence from five different locations in Delhi and converge at the main venue at the Red Fort.
The event will showcase the rich cultural diversity of tribal communities through folk dances, traditional music, handicrafts, and exhibitions from various states. Additionally, around 100 distinguished tribal personalities from fields such as sports, education, social service, and culture are expected to be honored during the program.
Organizers stated that this will be the first time such a large number of tribal participants from remote forest and hilly regions across India will gather in the national capital for a cultural event of this scale.
To ensure the smooth operation of the event, numerous committees and approximately 20 departments have been deployed to manage key arrangements. These include accommodations, transportation, food, drinking water, medical facilities, security, and sanitation at various locations in Delhi.
They have also urged media organizations to provide extensive coverage of the summit, presenting it as a significant national event aimed at promoting the unity, cultural pride, and rich traditions of India’s tribal communities.
Bhagwan Birsa Munda is remembered as one of India’s most revered tribal freedom fighters, who led a major resistance movement against British rule and fought to protect tribal faith, identity, and traditions.
