Law and Order Maintained at Kapurthala Central Jail: SSP Gaurav Tura

Mumbai, May 24: Law and order at Kapurthala Central Jail was swiftly restored following a brawl among inmates on Saturday night around 9:30 PM. SSP Gaurav Tura released a video message detailing the incident, assuring that the situation is fully under control.

SSP Tura stated that upon receiving the report, a significant police force, along with senior officials, was dispatched to the jail. Coordinating with the jail administration, immediate action was taken. Some inmates had climbed onto the roof, but police safely brought them down. He emphasized that no police personnel were injured, and no inmates escaped during the operation.

“We worked alongside the jail administration to maintain law and order. We successfully brought down the inmates who had climbed onto the roof. There were no injuries to police personnel, and no inmates managed to flee,” he said.

SSP Tura further explained that the incident was confined to Block Number 4 of the jail, where a scuffle had previously occurred among inmates. Three inmates sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment. The jail administration is continuously counting the inmates to ensure everyone is safe within the premises. A heavy police presence has been established at the jail.

He urged citizens to disregard rumors and rely solely on official information. He reassured that the situation is entirely under control, with both the jail administration and police maintaining vigilant oversight.

The conflict among inmates began over a minor issue, escalating into a physical altercation. In a state of agitation, some inmates climbed onto the roof, prompting security forces to take action. Thanks to the prompt response from the police, the situation was contained before it could worsen.
