Hyderabad, May 7: Telangana Chief Minister Revant Reddy’s convoy traveled through regular traffic in Hyderabad on Thursday. This decision followed the directive he issued to police officials a day earlier, instructing them not to halt the movement of the public during his convoy’s passage.
After returning from a visit to New Delhi, the Chief Minister’s convoy made its way from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad to his residence in Jubilee Hills without disrupting normal traffic. Traffic police managed to keep one lane open instead of completely stopping vehicles.
On Wednesday, the Chief Minister had clearly instructed senior police officials that VIP movement should not inconvenience the public. He emphasized that citizens should not have to wait on the roads for extended periods due to his convoy.
In this regard, Telangana’s DGP C.V. Anand stated that the Chief Minister has mandated that the public should not face any inconvenience during the movement of the Chief Minister and other VIPs across the state.
Reportedly, the Chief Minister expressed his displeasure upon encountering heavy traffic near the airport while departing for Delhi on Wednesday. He instructed the relevant authorities to take action against negligence and ensure that regular traffic is not disrupted due to convoy arrangements.
According to the DGP’s office, the Chief Minister also directed that vehicles coming from the opposite direction should not be unnecessarily stopped and that traffic management should be conducted in a way that minimizes public inconvenience. He also called for strict action against officials who display negligence in their duties.
Following the Chief Minister’s directives, DGP Anand held a video conference with law and order and traffic police officials from all state commissionerates to issue necessary guidelines.
