Urgent Action Needed to Address Demographic Changes Due to Infiltrators: Annpurna Devi

Ranchi, June 5: Union Minister Annpurna Devi has made significant remarks regarding the ongoing process of SIR (State Identification Register). She emphasized that this initiative is crucial in various parts of the country. The influx of infiltrators is altering the demographics in many areas, impacting the rights of local residents. Therefore, implementing SIR is essential for all states.

Devi pointed out that in regions from Santhal Pargana to Ranchi in Jharkhand, the arrival of outsiders is affecting the rights of local citizens. She accused infiltrators of undermining the rights of native residents, which is a concerning issue. According to her, it is vital to identify such individuals through processes like SIR to ensure the rights of the state’s genuine citizens are protected.

She further stated that the Election Commission has established certain criteria for this process, and actions are being taken based on those guidelines. Devi asserted that individuals residing illegally should be removed from the system to maintain a clean and transparent voter list.

Moreover, she mentioned that similar actions have already been taken in Assam and Bengal, and SIR will soon be implemented in Jharkhand as well. This will ensure that only legitimate citizens participate in the electoral process.

In the context of the SIR in West Bengal, many individuals migrated to Jharkhand and other states. She noted that the SIR process could soon commence in Jharkhand, allowing for the identification of such individuals, who will then be returned according to regulations. Devi expressed confidence in the Election Commission’s effective functioning, asserting that regardless of the circumstances, infiltrators must leave the country.
