Mumbai, June 4: The controversy surrounding actress Shilpa Shinde continues to intensify in the television industry. Recently, Shilpa revealed in a podcast that the sexual harassment allegations she made against producer Sanjay Kohli in 2016 were false. This statement sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for action against her. Amidst this turmoil, Shilpa has once again expressed her views openly.
In a conversation, Shilpa stated, “Yes, I have spoken to Sanjay Kohli and his wife. They told me to let those who want to criticize do so. I had already anticipated that such a controversy could arise after my statement. Sanjay Kohli called to thank me, but I told him that words like thanks or apologies are not enough in such matters. Both Sanjay and I know the reality of that time and what the truth is.”
Shilpa further emphasized, “I never fear speaking the truth, and I believe no one should be afraid to tell the truth. I have set an example that if something is true, one should have the courage to accept and state it publicly.”
The controversy escalated when someone on social media alleged that Shilpa had made similar false accusations in the past. In response, the actress said, “I have previously stated not to dig up old matters. If people bring up past issues again, I have examples and evidence that could change perceptions about many individuals. There are also many things that could come to light about some people who are no longer in this world.”
Shilpa asserted, “For me, the definitions of right and wrong have always been clear. It is part of my nature to call out wrongdoings and acknowledge the truth.”
Meanwhile, Shilpa also responded to Pooja Bedi’s statement, which called for a thorough and fair investigation to prevent the misuse of laws in cases of sexual harassment. Shilpa supported Pooja’s view, stating that every case should indeed be investigated, and she fully endorses this. If an investigation is necessary to uncover the truth of any case, it should certainly be conducted.
Notably, the entire controversy began when Shilpa Shinde mentioned in a podcast with Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiyaa that she filed the sexual harassment case against producer Sanjay Kohli in 2016 because she felt she had no other option at the time. She claimed that this step was taken during a dispute over the show’s contract and pending payments.
