
Gandhinagar, June 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Surat, Gujarat, on June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day. During this visit, he will announce various development projects worth ₹18,777 crore for the southern Gujarat region. The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation for 24 different projects, including five projects costing ₹4,852 crore and 19 projects worth ₹13,926 crore. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will also be present at the event.
On Friday, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation for seven government projects valued at ₹16,968 crore from Surat. These projects include four initiatives from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), two project inaugurations, and one project from the Energy and Petrochemicals Department (EPD).
Among the NHAI projects, the inauguration of the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway (Packages VI and VII) will take place, costing ₹7,689 crore. Additionally, the foundation will be laid for four other NHAI projects, which include four-laning from Dhamasia to Movi on NH-56 (Package 4), four-laning from Nasarpur to Malotha on NH-56 (Package 6), and the construction of vehicle underpasses on the Surat-Hazira National Highway (NH-53) at chainages 11.22 and 14.41.
Furthermore, the EPD will expand the transmission network in Gujarat, with an investment of ₹4,547 crore.
The Prime Minister will also launch and lay the foundation for 19 projects worth ₹1,810 crore across various state departments. These projects will cover sectors such as energy and petrochemicals, urban development, health and family welfare, GIDC, roads and buildings, science and technology, tribal development, and the panchayat department.
Among the Gujarat government’s projects, eight infrastructure projects under GIDC will be inaugurated at a cost of ₹1,063.43 crore, including various works in Bharuch and Valsad. Additionally, the foundation for a Regional Science Center in Surat will be laid under the Science and Technology Department. The Health and Family Welfare Department will inaugurate a 100-bed sub-district hospital and a 50-bed AYUSH hospital at the Old Civil Hospital campus. Other inaugurations will include the Borada-Satkashi-Sherula road and the new building of the Dang District Panchayat Office.
It is noteworthy that on May 26, Narendra Modi completed 12 years as Prime Minister. Under his leadership, Gujarat has witnessed unprecedented development across all sectors.
