Tragic Crane Accident in Faridabad Claims Three Lives, One Injured

Faridabad, June 4: A heavy gantry crane collapsed in Faridabad, Haryana, on Thursday due to inclement weather, resulting in three fatalities and one injury. The crane fell onto a container where several individuals were present. Rescue operations are currently ongoing.

According to Ballabgarh Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Agarwal, the incident occurred around 3 PM. Rescue efforts commenced immediately after the accident. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team arrived at the scene and began their operations. After significant effort, they managed to rescue one person alive from inside the container, although he is in critical condition and has been transported to a hospital. The bodies of three deceased individuals were also recovered by the SDRF team.

DCP Agarwal stated that adverse weather conditions were the cause of the accident. He explained that strong winds and poor visibility led to the crane slipping from its track and crashing directly onto the container. It remains unclear if any additional individuals are trapped inside, as the container has sustained extensive damage. The situation will only be fully assessed once a thorough inspection can be conducted. Rescue operations are still in progress.

He further mentioned that the entire area has been cordoned off, and security measures have been heightened. Machinery is being employed to remove the container and ascertain the complete situation inside. The rescue operation may continue throughout the night, with further clarity expected by morning.

When asked about the causes of the accident, he indicated that it is currently under investigation. While weather conditions are initially considered the primary factor, any potential technical failures or negligence will be determined after a thorough inquiry. He assured that strict action would be taken if any negligence or systemic flaws are identified.
