Mumbai, May 29: Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati visited Mahoba on Friday. He performed rituals at the Maa Chandika Devi Temple and expressed his support for the cow rally led by spiritual leader Dhirendra Shastri.
Shankaracharya praised the rally, noting the significant participation from the public and their acceptance of three proposed resolutions. Speaking to reporters, he stated, “This is a matter close to our hearts, which Dhirendra Shastri Ji is raising.”
He emphasized the demand to declare the cow as the ‘National Mother,’ asserting that no segment of society is shying away from this issue. Criticizing the ruling BJP, he remarked, “Voices are rising from all around to declare the cow as the National Mother. There is no section of the country that is not advocating for this. Only the ruling BJP seems to be silent; they are the only ones unable to call the cow ‘Mother,’ while everyone else has begun to speak out. Therefore, I welcome Dhirendra Shastri’s initiative to advocate for this declaration.”
The Maharaj further stated, “If we declare you an animal, people will start treating you like one. Hence, the cow should be recognized not as an animal but as ‘Mother.’”
Questioning the government, Shankaracharya said, “The government claims it makes decisions based on majority opinion. When the majority of the country asserts that the cow is not an animal but a mother, what is the government’s issue? Why are they not recognizing the cow as ‘Mother’? Can a government suppress the voice of the nation?”
