
Bengaluru, May 5: Bengaluru police arrested six individuals on Tuesday for allegedly selling illegal drugs in the Yeshwantpur and Nandini Layout areas. The group includes two inter-state operatives and four locals.
The arrests followed multiple raids based on reliable information received from informants, conducted within the jurisdictions of Yeshwantpur Police Station (in two separate cases) and Nandini Layout Police Station (in one case).
Before initiating the operation, police registered cases under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police, the accused purchased restricted substances like MDMA and hydro cannabis from unknown inter-state and local suppliers at lower prices and sold them at inflated rates. They specifically targeted the general public and college students to maximize illegal profits.
During the raids, police seized a total of 8.58 kilograms of MDMA and 5.7 kilograms of hydro cannabis from the accused. Additionally, four mobile phones used for drug transactions and a car were confiscated.
The total value of the seized materials is estimated at ₹10.05 crore, while its market value is reported to be around ₹20.10 crore, indicating the scale of this illegal operation.
Police officials stated that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the unknown suppliers (both local and inter-state) who allegedly provided drugs to the accused. The investigation is still underway.
All six suspects were presented in court on different dates and have been remanded to judicial custody.
This operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) B.S. Nemagouda, IPS, and led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Yeshwantpur Sub-Division) Mary Shailaja, with support from Inspector Manjunath S. of Yeshwantpur Police Station and Inspector Ganapati R.L. of Nandini Layout Police Station, along with their respective teams.
In another incident, Bengaluru East Division police arrested three individuals in connection with a house theft case registered at Indiranagar Police Station, including one inter-state suspect. Police also recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹1.15 crore.
This case was registered on December 25, 2024, after a resident of B.M. reported that unknown individuals had broken into their home and stolen gold jewelry and cash while the family was in Kerala.
During the investigation, police detained a suspect on March 22, who confessed and revealed that he, along with two accomplices, was involved in multiple burglaries across the city. Subsequently, other suspects were arrested from Makali and Chickpet.
Based on their confessions, police recovered 855 grams of gold jewelry and cash, successfully solving 18 other burglary cases in various police jurisdictions in Bengaluru.
In another significant success, police in the north-eastern division of Bengaluru recovered 692 mobile phones of various brands, valued at ₹1.75 crore, while investigating cases of stolen or lost mobile phones across 11 police stations.
