Mumbai, May 3: Actress Kunika Sadanand has openly discussed the issue of payment delays faced by new TV actors. The former contestant of ‘Bigg Boss 19′ stated that this problem has persisted for years, causing significant distress for emerging talent.
In an exclusive interview, Kunika revealed that as the TV industry has grown, payments often get delayed by 45 to 90 days. She pointed out the main reason behind this issue.
Kunika explained, “Channels receive payments from advertisers late. Then, the channels pay the producers. This entire corporate system causes delays. Money first goes from the advertiser to the channel, and then from the channel to the producer. Naturally, this leads to delays.”
The actress also proposed a practical solution to the problem. She suggested that new actors should set their fees slightly higher. However, this poses a challenge, as producers may choose other actors if they demand higher fees.
Kunika added, “Every artist should have a buffer system in their life, but that isn’t always possible. This is a very serious issue.”
She praised major production houses like Balaji, noting that they have sufficient reserve funds, making timely payments more likely.
This is not the first time the issue of payment delays in the TV industry has been raised. Previously, Varun Badola and Arjun Bijlani have also spoken out about this problem.
Kunika Sadanand emphasized that small and new artists face significant challenges. Ensuring timely payments for actors in the TV industry remains a major hurdle.
She expressed hope that producers and channels will take this issue seriously so that new artists do not have to face financial difficulties.
