Severe Dust Storm Hits Rajasthan, Red Alert Issued in Multiple Districts

Jaipur, May 30: A powerful western disturbance has triggered severe dust storms, strong winds, and rainfall across several districts in Rajasthan. This sudden change in weather has disrupted daily life, uprooted trees, and caused power outages in various areas.

Dust storms were reported in Churu, Hanumangarh, Sri Ganganagar, Bikaner, Nagaur, Didwana-Kuchaman, Alwar, and Sikar, while the capital, Jaipur, experienced heavy winds accompanied by rain. Some rural areas also reported hailstorms.

The intensity of the dust storm led to darkness during the day in many districts. Reduced visibility forced drivers to turn on their headlights. In several locations, strong winds knocked down trees and disrupted electricity supply.

The weather system first impacted Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar, where wind speeds reached up to 56 kilometers per hour. In the Jhotwara area of Jaipur, a dust storm lasted for about ten minutes in the evening.

The Meteorological Department issued a red alert at 4:30 PM for the next three hours for Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Churu, Sikar, Didwana-Kuchaman, Nagaur, Jhunjhunu, Jaipur, and Phalodi districts. An orange alert was also issued for Dausa, Alwar, Kotputli-Bahrod, Khetri-Tijara, Deeg, Bharatpur, and Karauli districts.

Rainfall was also recorded in several districts, including Udaipur, during the morning hours.
