Abhishek Banerjee Transferred to Another Hospital Amid Serious Allegations by Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata, May 30: Abhishek Banerjee, the General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress and Lok Sabha MP, has been transferred to another hospital following injuries sustained in an attack. This decision was made at the request of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Initially, Abhishek was admitted to the emergency department of a private hospital near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass after being rescued from Sonarpur.

Shortly after, Mamata Banerjee arrived at the hospital with Abhishek’s mother, Lata Banerjee. They went directly to the emergency department where initial examinations and treatment for Abhishek were underway.

Surprisingly, within 30 minutes of their arrival, Mamata Banerjee left the hospital premises with her nephew. Before departing, she informed the media that she decided to transfer Abhishek to another hospital due to inadequate treatment received at the first facility.

She indirectly accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the state government of instructing hospital officials not to provide proper care for her nephew. Mamata stated, “We are moving Abhishek from here. He is not receiving appropriate treatment, possibly due to orders from higher authorities.”

As Abhishek was wheeled out of the hospital, he was seen wearing a patient gown. He was later transferred to another private hospital located in Minto Park, central Kolkata. The officials at the first hospital did not respond to Mamata Banerjee’s allegations.

Earlier in the day, Abhishek faced significant opposition from locals when he visited Sonarpur to meet the families of Trinamool Congress workers who were reportedly victims of post-election violence.

Protesters attacked him, slapping him and throwing eggs. To protect himself, Abhishek had to wear a cricket helmet after being hit by some eggs. He managed to reach the home of a deceased party worker and spoke with the family. Subsequently, West Bengal police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) escorted him out of Sonarpur.

As he was being taken away, protesting women lined the streets, chanting slogans and calling Abhishek a “thief.” Mamata Banerjee later took to social media, directly blaming the BJP and the state government for the incident.
