Bengaluru, May 11: The debate surrounding government job recruitment in Karnataka has intensified once again. BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra has leveled serious allegations against the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPPSC). He claims that the very institution responsible for providing government jobs to qualified candidates transparently is now jeopardizing the future of youth due to corruption and irregularities.
Vijayendra pointed out that the state government recently announced the recruitment of 56,432 positions, a decision made after significant protests from unemployed youth. However, it is surprising that no official notification regarding this recruitment has been issued yet, leading to confusion and frustration among millions of young people.
He alleges that a constitutional body like KPPSC should conduct the selection process fairly and transparently, but it has faced serious accusations of corruption and irregularities. Courts have previously raised questions about the commission’s functioning, and some guilty officials have even been identified. Despite this, no substantial reforms have been implemented.
Vijayendra also mentioned that the commission is now talking about new technologies and reforms, but the trust of the youth has already been broken. According to him, unless the selection process is entirely transparent and based on strict rules, the confidence of young people cannot be restored.
He urged the government to promptly issue the notification for the recruitment of 56,432 positions and to expedite and ensure fairness in the process. He warned that if this is not done, the anger of unemployed youth could escalate into significant protests.
It is noteworthy that the Karnataka government has approved recruitment for several Group A, B, and C positions. This initiative, launched by the cabinet at the beginning of 2026, aims to fill positions in the transport, education, health, and revenue departments using a 400-point roster system and internal reservations for Scheduled Castes.
Meanwhile, opposition parties and some legislators in the state have also questioned the functioning of KPPSC. A lengthy discussion on this issue recently took place in the assembly, where calls for reform were made. The opposition argues that with the future of millions of youth at stake, the government should not shy away from its responsibilities.
