Iran Sends Draft Proposal to the U.S. Demanding End to War and Lifting of Sanctions

Tehran, May 11: Iran has sent a new draft proposal to the United States aimed at initiating discussions regarding the current situation. According to Tasnim News Agency, this draft calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, guarantees against future attacks on Iran, and the lifting of U.S. sanctions and naval blockades.

A source cited by Tasnim emphasized the need for an immediate end to the war, assurances against further aggression towards Iran, and highlighted several other issues within a political agreement.

Iranian media reports indicate that the proposal includes a 30-day timeframe for the U.S. to lift sanctions on Iranian oil sales and demands the release of Iran’s frozen assets following an initial agreement.

However, reports from Iranian media have not yet addressed any counter-proposals regarding the country’s nuclear program. Despite ongoing discussions, Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian adopted a defiant tone on social media platform X, stating, “We will never bow our heads before the enemy. If discussions or negotiations arise, it does not mean surrender or retreat. Our aim is to uphold Iran’s rights and robustly protect the country’s interests.”

It is noteworthy that on February 28, the U.S. and Israel jointly attacked Tehran and other Iranian cities, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as civilians. According to Xinhua News Agency, Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes against U.S. and Israeli interests in the region, tightening control over the Strait of Hormuz.

After extensive efforts, a ceasefire was implemented between Iran and the U.S. on April 8 for two weeks. Subsequently, on April 11 and 12, delegations from Iran and the U.S. met in Islamabad, Pakistan, but no resolution was reached. Tensions remained high in the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran increasing its control while the U.S. imposed a blockade in the area.

In recent weeks, both parties have reportedly shared several proposed plans outlining conditions for ending the conflict, allegedly through Pakistan.

On Sunday, Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that Iran’s response to the U.S.’s new proposal had been sent to Pakistan. U.S. President Donald Trump commented on Truth Social that the response was not fully acceptable. He stated, “I just read the response from the so-called representatives of Iran. I did not like it at all; it is completely unacceptable!”
