Pakistan Announces ODI Squad for Australia Series, Babar and Rauf Return

New Delhi, May 22: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. Shaheen Afridi will lead the team.

Several star players are making a comeback for the series against the Kangaroos. Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf have been included in the lineup. Additionally, Sufiyan Mukim, who was not part of the ODI series against Bangladesh, has also secured a spot in the team. First-time ODI opportunities have been granted to Ahmed Daniyal, Arafat Minhas, and Rohail Nazir, who have previously played T20 internationals for Pakistan.

According to the PCB statement, Usman Khan was unavailable for selection due to illness. Muhammad Ghazi Gori and Nazir have been retained as the two wicketkeepers. The team will gather in Islamabad on Friday for a training camp. Fakhar Zaman and Sam Ayub are not available for selection due to fitness issues and are currently undergoing rehabilitation under the PCB’s medical team.

Australia’s team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 23. The ODI series will commence on May 30, with the first match taking place in Rawalpindi. The second ODI is set for June 2, followed by the final match on June 4 in Lahore. The last bilateral series between Pakistan and Australia was held in 2024, where Pakistan claimed victory 2-1, marking their first series win in 22 years. Australia last toured Pakistan in 2022, where Pakistan also won the series 2-1.
