Shubman Gill Expresses Joy Over Teams Timely Rhythm Recovery

Ahmedabad, May 22: Shubman Gill, captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT), expressed his happiness at seeing his team regain their rhythm at the right moment. On Thursday, GT secured a spot in the top two of the points table by defeating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 89 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Both the batting and bowling performances of GT were outstanding in this match. Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler all scored half-centuries, while the bowling trio of Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Rashid Khan delivered impressive performances.

After the victory, Captain Gill stated, “It is crucial to reach the playoffs. I am happy to see the team finding its rhythm at the right time. I am very pleased with how I am batting. Whenever you get out, you feel you could have done more. Yes, the fielding was better than the last match. Emotions come out when you are playing such an important match. My neck is completely fine.”

When asked about the differences between last season and IPL 2026 as a captain, Gill remarked, “It’s about continuing the good things we are doing, and that’s the most important thing for us. Last season, after 12 matches, we were number one, but we lost the last two matches and couldn’t secure a top-two spot.”

Gill added, “Both matches were here, and we played the last match against the same opponent, who scored 230 runs, and I think we were bowled out for 110-120 runs. So, going into this match, it felt like it could be the same as before, but I don’t think we have done anything different this season. We were consistently in the top two last year, and we are again this year. I am very grateful to the fans who came out and supported us.” The Gujarat Titans recorded their largest victory in IPL history against CSK in terms of runs.
