Delhi Government Imposes Strict Ban on Sacrifices in Public Spaces for Bakrid

New Delhi, May 22: The Delhi government has announced stringent guidelines for Bakrid. Minister Kapil Mishra shared these directives via a video on his official ‘X’ handle, emphasizing that any violations will lead to severe legal action.

Mishra clarified that sacrificing cattle, including cows, calves, camels, and other prohibited animals during Bakrid is completely illegal. Criminal cases will be filed against those who violate this rule.

According to the government’s main guidelines, “No sacrifices will be allowed in public spaces, streets, alleys, or parks during Bakrid. Sacrifices can only take place at designated and authorized locations. Disposing of waste, blood, or any remains in drains, sewers, or public areas is strictly prohibited. Additionally, there will be a complete ban on the illegal buying and selling of livestock in markets, setting up temporary animal markets on roads, and illegal trafficking of animals.”

Mishra stated, “The Delhi government’s Development Ministry has issued guidelines for Bakrid. Sacrificing cows, calves, and other prohibited animals is illegal. There is a total ban on sacrifices in public places. Disposing of blood or waste in drains is also prohibited. Sacrifices should only occur at designated locations.”

He urged residents to report any violations of these guidelines to the Delhi Police or the Development Ministry. The minister stressed that the festival should be celebrated peacefully and within the bounds of the law, extending his best wishes for Bakrid to everyone.

The Delhi Police and the Development Ministry are prepared to enforce these guidelines rigorously. In previous years, there have been complaints regarding sacrifices and cleanliness issues during Bakrid in public spaces, prompting the government to adopt a stricter approach this time.
