
New Delhi, May 22: Prime Minister Modi will engage in discussions with Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides today in New Delhi. The meeting aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, and regional issues.
President Christodoulides arrived in the national capital on Thursday, where he was welcomed at the airport by Ajay Tamta, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways.
The Ministry of External Affairs expressed on social media platform X, “A warm welcome to Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides upon his arrival in New Delhi. After his visit to Mumbai, he reached New Delhi, where he received a formal welcome and a guard of honor from Minister Ajay Tamta.”
During his visit, President Christodoulides will meet with President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honor. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will also meet with the Cyprus President before the discussions with Prime Minister Modi, which will take place at Hyderabad House.
Christodoulides has described his trip to India as “extremely important,” stating that it will serve as a significant milestone in further strengthening the already “excellent” relations between the two countries.
Before arriving in New Delhi, Christodoulides visited Mumbai. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Cyprus’s Foreign Minister, Transport Minister, senior officials, and business representatives. This visit is expected to bolster economic and strategic ties between India and Cyprus.
Earlier on Thursday, Christodoulides rang the bell at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in Mumbai, alongside Chairman Srinivasan Injeti and Managing Director and CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan.
The NSE India shared on X, “During this visit, a tour of the NSE premises was conducted. Following this, meaningful discussions took place with our leadership team to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for collaboration.”
