
New Delhi, May 22: In a thrilling encounter of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 89 runs. Sai Sudharsan played a pivotal role in this victory, scoring a powerful 84 runs off 53 balls. With this innings, Sudharsan reclaimed the Orange Cap from Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
After 14 matches, Sudharsan has accumulated 638 runs, demonstrating remarkable form this season. He faces tough competition from his teammate and GT captain Shubman Gill, who is currently second on the list with 616 runs from 13 matches.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has slipped to third place with 579 runs. Following him is Lucknow Super Giants’ Mitchell Marsh, who has scored 563 runs in 13 matches, placing him fourth. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen now ranks fifth with 555 runs, while Virat Kohli holds the sixth position with 542 runs.
On the bowling front, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar retains the Purple Cap. However, his dominance is under threat as GT’s Kagiso Rabada matched his tally of 24 wickets after taking three wickets against CSK. Bhuvneshwar achieved his 24 wickets in 13 matches, while Rabada needed 14 matches to reach the same milestone.
CSK’s Anshul Kamboj is third with 21 wickets, followed by GT’s spin bowler Rashid Khan with 19 wickets in fourth place. Rajasthan Royals’ bowler Jofra Archer occupies the fifth spot with 18 wickets, while Kolkata Knight Riders’ Kartik Tyagi has also taken 18 wickets in 13 matches, placing him sixth.
