Beijing, September (Udaipur Kiran News) — Honor has officially shared the first camera samples from the Honor Magic 8 Pro’s 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, ahead of the series launch in China this October.
The company organised a closed-door session on imaging technology, attended by Honor CEO Li Jian and key teams. Digital blogger Ouyang Tongxuan revealed that feedback-driven innovation has helped Honor achieve rapid advances in mobile photography over the past two years. In blind tests conducted across more than 50 scenarios, Honor devices reportedly won over 90% of the time, especially excelling in night telephoto shots.
Camera Performance
Early testing of the Honor Magic 8 Pro indicates that the 200MP ultra-night telephoto delivers sharp and detailed handheld 10x low-light images, aided by AI night mode and stage mode with advanced stabilisation.
According to Digital Chat Station, the Magic 8 Pro is equipped with a 200MP 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto sensor with an 85mm focal length, f/2.6 aperture, and 3.7x optical zoom, supporting up to 10x hybrid zoom and CIPA-grade optical stabilisation. The exact sensor model, whether Samsung HP5 or HP9, remains unconfirmed.
The main camera is expected to feature a 50MP sensor with a 23mm f/1.6 lens, while the ultra-wide shooter is said to use a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor. Honor is marketing this imaging setup under the nickname “Night God”, highlighting its advanced night photography capabilities.
The Honor Magic 8 series is scheduled to launch in China next month, placing it in direct competition with other flagship devices such as the Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Pro, both of which also feature 200MP periscope telephoto cameras.
