Mumbai, April 28: Huawei has recently unveiled the MatePad Mini, featuring an 8.8-inch display, a Kirin chip, and a robust 6,400mAh battery. This device made its global debut in February 2026. Now, a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station has provided the first insights into the upcoming second-generation MatePad Mini.

Huawei MatePad Mini 2’s First Details Emerge

According to a post on Weibo, Huawei’s next compact tablet is currently under development and is expected to include several flagship features. While the exact name of the device remains unconfirmed, it is anticipated to be called the MatePad Mini 2.

The leak indicates that the MatePad Mini 2 will sport an OLED display with ultra-narrow and symmetrical bezels on all sides. It is also expected to be powered by a next-generation flagship chipset from the “9-series” lineup, with a potential variant offering 5G connectivity.

Reportedly, prototype units are undergoing testing with a significantly larger battery than previous models. Additionally, the company is considering adding NFC support for this device.

To recap, the first-generation MatePad Mini features an 8.8-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Kirin 9010 5G chip, offering configurations of up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage. The device includes a 6,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging capabilities.

The MatePad Mini is equipped with a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50-megapixel and an 8-megapixel camera, along with a 32-megapixel front camera. It runs on HarmonyOS 5.1 and includes features like a fingerprint sensor, eSIM support, and satellite messaging (available only in China).
