Enthusiastic Voter Turnout Marks West Bengal Elections

Kolkata, April 29: The second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections in 2026 has witnessed remarkable enthusiasm among voters. Long queues formed at polling stations early in the morning, with a notable participation from women, making this democratic event even more vibrant.

Images shared by the Election Commission show a significant number of women standing in line at a polling station in the North 24 Parganas district. These visuals clearly indicate that women are exercising their voting rights with great enthusiasm and responsibility. The Commission described this scene as a ‘celebration of democracy.’

Similarly, long lines of voters were observed in the Nadia district’s 93 Harinakhata Assembly constituency from the morning. People are arriving at polling stations with a sense of pride and responsibility. The atmosphere is festive, with every voter considering their vote as their voice.

In the 161 Ballygunge Assembly constituency under South Kolkata, the smile of a young voter speaks volumes. After casting his vote, his joy reflects the importance and satisfaction of participating in democracy. The Election Commission has conveyed the message that your vote is your voice, and it should be used.

Before the elections commenced, mock polls were conducted at various polling stations across 142 Assembly seats to ensure a smooth voting process.

It is noteworthy that the first phase of voting for 152 seats was completed on April 23. Voting for the second phase is ongoing today, and the counting of votes will take place on May 4, with the election results to be announced thereafter.
