
Berlin, April 28: Samsung has unveiled its 32-inch Odyssey G8 G80HS gaming monitor in Germany, priced at €1,499. Shipping is scheduled to commence on June 19.

Samsung claims the Odyssey G8 is the world’s first 6K gaming monitor. It features a 6K (6144 x 3456) IPS panel with a refresh rate of 165Hz. Additionally, it offers a 3K (3072 x 1728) resolution mode that supports an ultra-fast 330Hz refresh rate.
The Odyssey G8 G80HS boasts a pixel density of 224 PPI, ensuring sharper image quality. It supports high dynamic range (HDR) with HDR10+ Gaming, enhancing brightness and contrast in real-time. This results in clearer dark shadows and bright highlights. The screen achieves 99% sRGB coverage, providing vivid colors across a wide 178-degree viewing angle.
With a 1ms GtG response time, the monitor ensures smooth motion. It also supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium to reduce screen tearing. The device features a static contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and a peak brightness of 350 nits.
Samsung has equipped the Odyssey G8 with various connectivity options, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 2.1, and a USB hub with multiple ports. The ergonomic stand allows for height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments, enhancing comfort during extended gaming sessions. While it lacks built-in speakers, it does include a headphone jack for external audio solutions.
The monitor showcases a sleek black finish and is VESA mounting compatible. It weighs 7.4 kg with the stand and comes with a factory calibration report for optimal out-of-the-box performance.
