Mumbai, April 28: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched the ‘Mahachatur Artificial Intelligence Chatbot’ on Monday. This initiative aims to streamline the transition from education to employment. It provides an integrated platform for skill development, job opportunities, and entrepreneurial guidance.
During the launch, Fadnavis emphasized India’s demographic advantage, noting that 65% of the population is under 35 years old. He stated that industries are in search of skilled human resources, while the youth are seeking employment. The ‘Mahachatur Chatbot’ will serve as a crucial link between these two groups.
The AI-based assistant, available through WhatsApp, offers a ‘one-stop solution’ for skill training information, application processes, job opportunities, entrepreneurial guidance, market connections, assessments, and grievance redressal.
Fadnavis highlighted a significant feature of this platform: its impact on the apprenticeship registration process. Under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme and the Maharashtra Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, registration, which previously took two to three days, can now be completed in just 15 minutes.
Developed in collaboration with the ‘RightWalk Foundation,’ this system operates on secure government servers using open-source artificial intelligence to ensure maximum data privacy for users in both rural and urban areas.
Skill and Entrepreneurship Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha stressed the department’s commitment to organizing the unorganized skill sector. He acknowledged that while artificial intelligence may affect some traditional jobs, it also opens up vast new opportunities. Efforts are ongoing to connect Maharashtra’s youth with the global labor market.
