China to Enhance Capacity and Quality of Service Industry

Beijing, April 29: The Chinese State Council’s News Office introduced a proposal on Tuesday aimed at improving the capacity and quality of the service industry.

Shan Chulin, Deputy Head of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated that the proposal was recently released. It outlines plans for the service industry to reach a scale of 1,000 trillion yuan by the year 2030.

This projection indicates an additional opportunity exceeding 200 trillion yuan. The proposal includes plans for relevant tasks across ten key sectors.

According to the proposal, six main areas will see enhanced professional and high-level development in research and design. These sectors include technology services, modern logistics, software and information services, finance related to supply chains, energy conservation and environmental protection services, and business services. The aim is to increase value in production processes and enhance market value acquisition.

Additionally, four key areas will promote more inclusive and high-quality services to meet basic needs. These include residential services, care for the elderly and children, healthcare, and services related to culture, tourism, and sports.
