Voting Begins in Second Phase of West Bengal Elections, Dilip Ghosh Expresses Confidence in Central Forces

Kolkata, April 29: The second phase of voting for the West Bengal Assembly elections has commenced. Voters began arriving at polling stations as early as 7 AM, creating a bustling atmosphere.

BJP leader and candidate Dilip Ghosh expressed confidence in the presence of central forces, stating that, as in previous elections, they are deployed and monitored directly by the Election Commission. This oversight has bolstered public trust, leading to expectations of a more transparent and fair voting process.

Ghosh highlighted the BJP’s political journey over the past 70-75 years, noting that the party has gradually strengthened its foothold across the country. Currently, the BJP governs in 21 states, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been elected three times. He clarified that the party’s aim extends beyond merely winning elections; it seeks to bring about social change.

BJP leaders are optimistic about voter turnout. According to Ghosh, voting in Kolkata and surrounding areas could reach 85 to 90 percent, significantly higher than in previous elections. He noted that citizens are eager to exercise their voting rights.

Arjun Singh, BJP candidate from the Noapara constituency, mentioned that he would cast his vote before touring his area. He expressed hope that the second phase of voting would proceed as peacefully as the first. Although he reported an incident of a camera cable being cut at booth number 238, he confirmed that it was promptly repaired.

Singh remarked that West Bengal is moving towards change and that the public is fully aware of their rights. He urged the Election Commission to fulfill its responsibilities effectively and acknowledged that the potential for violence in the elections remains a concerning issue. He stated that a peaceful election this time would be a positive sign.

Meanwhile, Pawan Singh, BJP candidate from the Bhatarpara seat, expressed satisfaction with the voting process so far. He noted that voting has been peaceful and encouraged voters to participate in large numbers.
