Delhi Health Minister Denies Allegations of Irregularities in Arogya Mandir Projects

New Delhi, May 29: Delhi’s Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh has dismissed media reports and speculation regarding alleged discrepancies in the expenditure on Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. An official provided this information on Thursday.

The minister clarified, “It is made clear that the development and operation of these centers have been conducted according to the financial standards, technical guidelines, and approved funding framework set by the Government of India.”

He stated that the suggestion that only superficial changes were made to existing health facilities or that expenditures exceeded approved standards is factually incorrect.

The minister explained that under the approved framework for Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, a specific allocation model has been adopted to strengthen infrastructure and enhance services.

For each center, ₹25 lakh has been allocated for infrastructure improvements, while ₹1 lakh has been designated for furniture, fixtures, and essential operational needs.

All efforts to improve services, enhance patient experiences, maintain testing facilities, and strengthen the primary healthcare infrastructure have been completed within these approved limits.

During the fiscal year 2025-26, a total of 370 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs were launched across Delhi. These centers were initiated under government-sponsored health schemes aimed at increasing access to healthcare services and providing preventive health services.

The breakdown of the operational centers is as follows: 244 centers under the PM-ABHIM (Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission) and 126 centers under the NHM (National Health Mission).

The minister clarified that the financial allocations associated with these projects fully comply with the provisions and usage criteria of the approved plan. The actual funds released so far include ₹58.30 crore under PM-ABHIM and ₹8.50 crore under NHM, totaling ₹66.80 crore.
