Body of Missing Woman Found in Blue Drum in Punjab

Patiala, May 28: Authorities in Punjab have identified the body of a woman discovered in a blue drum on Wednesday. The deceased has been named Neha, a resident of Gopal Colony. Following a post-mortem examination, the body has been returned to her family, and a thorough investigation is underway.

DSP Jagjit Singh Randhawa provided updates on the case, stating that the body was initially unidentifiable but was later confirmed to be Neha. Police have filed a case against unidentified individuals and are actively searching for suspects.

Investigations revealed that Neha left her home on Tuesday, taking her mother’s mobile phone with her. Her family noted that she had previously gone out occasionally, so there was no immediate concern. However, when she did not return, her family began to worry and initiated a search.

Further inquiries disclosed that Neha had been previously married but divorced and had been living separately from her husband for some time. There has been no evidence of her husband’s involvement, though he has not been cleared of suspicion either.

Initial findings indicate that Neha was strangled, with marks found on her neck. After her death, her body was placed in a blue drum and allegedly discarded near the DMW bridge to conceal her identity.

Police officials stated they are exploring every angle in the investigation. While the family has not expressed suspicion towards anyone, authorities are diligently pursuing all potential leads. They aim to apprehend the suspects as quickly as possible.
