Moscow, May 29: India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval emphasized on Thursday that there can be no double standards in the fight against terrorism. Responsible nations must evaluate their decisions to determine whether they support sponsors of terrorism or counter them with decisive action.
Speaking at the inaugural International Security Forum and the 14th meeting of high representatives for security issues, Doval urged attention to the situation in West Asia. He highlighted the necessity of ensuring safe and uninterrupted trade routes through international maritime passages, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.
The forum, hosted by Sergey Shoigu, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, focused on challenges and threats to international security in the context of the emergence of a multipolar world.
The Indian Embassy in Russia highlighted Doval’s comments on social media platform X, stating, “During the discussion, NSA Doval reiterated that there can be no double standards in the fight against terrorism. Responsible nations must assess their options and decide whether to support sponsors of terrorism or confront them with decisive action.”
During the forum, Doval also met with Shoigu. The Indian Embassy noted that they reviewed ongoing cooperation in defense, security, energy, and economic relations. Both sides exchanged views on the upcoming BRICS NSA meeting to be held in New Delhi.
Doval will continue to engage in additional bilateral meetings during the forum, which will extend into Friday. Earlier this week, U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio met with NSA Doval in New Delhi. Their discussions focused on cooperation related to defense, security, and strategic technologies, including the TRU.S.T initiative.
The Ministry of External Affairs stated, “Both NSAs reiterated the high priority given to the bilateral comprehensive global strategic partnership. They also shared their perspectives on regional and global issues.”
