Brutal Murder of Woman Sparks Outrage in Bihar Village

Gopalganj, May 29: A woman was brutally murdered in Mahradeur village, located in the Bhore police station area of Gopalganj district, Bihar, on Thursday. The incident, stemming from a minor dispute, has led to widespread outrage among local residents.

Upon hearing the news, villagers protested vigorously, even attacking police vehicles that arrived at the scene. Authorities have detained one individual on suspicion related to the case.

According to police reports, the woman was allegedly beaten to death with an iron rod during a confrontation that began over children using the restroom. The argument escalated quickly, resulting in a violent altercation. The woman suffered severe head injuries and collapsed, bleeding profusely. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead upon examination.

The deceased has been identified as Suman Devi, the wife of Sunil Chauhan. The incident has sent shockwaves through the village, prompting residents to block the Bhore-Mirganj main road in protest against the police’s delayed response.

When police attempted to calm the agitated crowd, tensions flared, leading to stone-pelting directed at law enforcement. Several police vehicles were damaged in the chaos. Villagers have accused the police of arriving late to the scene.

In response to the escalating situation, police were compelled to use force to restore order. A heavy police presence has since been deployed in the village. Authorities are interrogating the detained suspect, and a forensic team has been summoned to investigate the scene.

The Hathua SDPO stated that a thorough investigation is underway, and strict action will be taken against those responsible. Currently, a tense calm prevails in the village.
