Assam Government Plans Roadmap for 200,000 Jobs: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, May 29: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday that the state government has begun developing a roadmap to fulfill its promise of creating 200,000 government jobs in the coming years. He emphasized that the government is continuously working to translate electoral promises into reality, stating that there is no time to relax.

In a post on the social media platform X, CM Sarma wrote, “We have no time to rest as we work towards fulfilling our promises.”

He explained that his team has started identifying vacant positions across various government departments and is organizing the recruitment process in a systematic manner.

CM Sarma stated, “My team is already engaged in identifying vacant posts, preparing the roadmap, assessing departments and institutions, and setting a timeline to fulfill the promise of 200,000 government jobs.”

Along with his post, the Chief Minister shared a graphic titled “Mission 200,000 Government Jobs – Plan in Motion,” which outlines the recruitment campaign strategy.

According to the government’s plan, a comprehensive assessment of vacancies in various departments will be conducted over the next five years. This will include a review of approved positions and the identification of employment opportunities in departments, autonomous bodies, semi-government organizations, missions, and societies.

In the recent Assam Assembly elections, the BJP-led government included large-scale job creation as one of its key electoral promises. Political analysts believe that this announcement is an attempt to strengthen the government’s commitment amid rising employment demands among the youth.

Since taking office in 2021, the Himanta Biswa Sarma government has claimed to be actively conducting recruitment drives across various sectors, including police, education, health, and administrative services.

The Chief Minister has previously stated that the recruitment process in Assam will continue with full transparency, with merit being the most important criterion for appointments.

This new announcement comes at a time when the BJP has returned to power with a strong mandate in the Assam Assembly elections.
