Tragic Death of Student in Giridih Sparks Outrage and Calls for Justice

Giridih, May 24: The suspicious death of an 11th-grade student, Payal Kumari, in Giridih district, Jharkhand, has gained significant attention. The state government is taking the matter seriously.

On Sunday, Sudivya Kumar Sonu, a minister from the Jharkhand government, visited Sirsiya village to meet with the grieving family and assure them of justice. Mayor Pramila Mehra accompanied him during the visit.

The minister expressed his condolences to the family, stating that such incidents involving young girls are deeply tragic and concerning for society. He assured that no one involved in the case would be spared and directed the police to conduct a fair and thorough investigation.

Payal Kumari left home on May 19 for tuition and sewing training but did not return. Her family searched extensively before notifying the police. While the police were investigating mobile call details and other aspects, her body was discovered on May 21 near the Usri River, close to the old Barganda bridge. The discovery of her body has caused a sensation in the area, with locals alleging it to be a murder case.

During the minister’s visit, a large number of villagers and local residents gathered, demanding a fast-track court hearing and the swift arrest of the accused. Mayor Pramila Mehra reassured the family, stating that the entire city stands with them during this difficult time.

Meanwhile, the police are actively investigating the case. Several suspects have been interrogated, but no official arrests have been confirmed yet. The police are considering all angles in their investigation.

Following the incident, there is a palpable atmosphere of anger and concern throughout Giridih district. The family continues to assert that this was a murder and is demanding strict action against the perpetrators.
