New Delhi, May 24: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the Civil Services Preliminary Exam across the country under tight security. As candidates exited the exam halls after the first session, their expressions reflected a mix of emotions.
This year, the General Studies paper was rated as moderate to difficult, presenting a challenging experience for many. Candidates reported that while some questions were lengthy and complex, others were relatively straightforward. The difficulty level of the exam directly impacts the merit list, leading many candidates to anticipate a slightly lower cut-off this year.
Shubham, who took the exam in Ajmer, Rajasthan, commented, “The first paper on General Studies was very tough. It included questions related to central banking, international issues, and foreign policy.”
Vansh Kumawat noted, “This time, there were more questions related to science and technology, current affairs, and the environment. The history questions required thorough preparation. The paper was better compared to last time.”
A female candidate from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, expressed satisfaction, stating, “The paper went well. It aligned with my preparation.”
Vishal, who sat for the exam in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, mentioned that the paper was a bit challenging, with fewer questions from political science.
A young man from Ludhiana, Punjab, remarked that basic questions were less prevalent this time. Priyanka, a first-time examinee, said, “I found the paper to be good, and the questions were appropriate.”
The second paper of the CSAT commenced at 2:30 PM, lasting for two hours, concluding at 4:30 PM. This paper rigorously tests students’ logical reasoning and mathematical understanding.
