Gaya, May 24: Shoaib Khan, the talented batsman who represented the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the T20 World Cup 2026, returned to Bihar on Sunday to a warm welcome. He expressed immense joy at being back in his homeland. Shoaib emphasized the importance of hard work in achieving one’s goals.
Born on June 5, 1998, in Gaya, Shoaib shared his feelings with reporters upon his return: “I am very happy to be back home. I was busy with cricket schedules for eight consecutive months. It feels great to return to my birthplace, and the warm welcome from the people here feels like a dream.”
In a message to the youth, Shoaib said, “I want to tell young people that you must give 200 percent every day to achieve your goals. Additionally, you should focus on your studies. There is a lot of competition in cricket in India, so having a backup option is crucial. Keep fighting and working hard to reach your dreams.”
Reflecting on his struggles, Shoaib stated, “I faced many challenges. There weren’t many facilities for cricket here. I used to play tennis cricket, which inspired me to try my hand at professional cricket. Bihar has some outstanding players, like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ishan Kishan, who have emerged from here.”
Shoaib’s father, Adeb Khan, expressed his pride upon his son’s return, saying, “It is a matter of great joy that a boy from our area has reached this level. Many boys here are working hard. Shoaib has made it to the World Cup, which is a significant achievement. We never thought he would become a cricketer. He chose this sport and made a name for himself. I encourage all parents to provide their children with good nutrition and education. It is a blessing from above that Shoaib has reached this milestone.”
Shoaib Khan made his international debut for the UAE in 2025. He has scored 56 runs at an average of 14 in four One Day Internationals and accumulated 147 runs at an average of 21 in eight T20 matches, including two half-centuries.
During the T20 World Cup 2026, Shoaib played all four matches for the UAE. He managed only 7 runs against New Zealand but scored 51 runs against Canada, marking his first half-century in international cricket. He followed this with a remarkable 68 runs against Afghanistan and contributed 6 runs against South Africa.
