Mirzapur, May 24: A 15-year-old girl’s murder in the Basari village of Mirzapur has sent shockwaves through the community. The girl’s body was discovered near a drain, instilling fear among local residents. Family members have accused a young man of being responsible for the crime. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
The victim has been identified as Kavita Bind. According to her family, Kavita was sleeping at home with her mother on Saturday night. Around 1 AM, the family woke up to find her missing. Despite a night-long search by family and villagers, no trace of her was found. On Sunday morning, workers and locals reported seeing a young woman’s body outside the village. Upon arrival, family members confirmed the deceased was Kavita Bind.
The family alleges that Sajan Bind, a resident of Sukhnai village, had been harassing Kavita for months through phone calls. Kavita’s father, Mohan Bind, stated that the accused had even threatened them when they opposed his behavior. The family claims that Kavita was murdered by slitting her throat with a knife and that she may have been sexually assaulted.
Upon receiving the news, Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik arrived at the scene with a police team to inspect the area. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and evidence has been collected from the site.
SP Aparna Rajat Kaushik confirmed that a case has been filed based on the family’s complaint. A police team is actively pursuing the suspect’s arrest, and a breakthrough in the case is expected soon.
In response to the incident, LJP state president Sanjeev Pandey visited the site and expressed deep outrage. He highlighted the rising incidents of murder and sexual assault in the state as a serious concern and urged the government to take strict action against the perpetrators to ensure justice for the victim’s family.
