Global Leaders Set to Gather for 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi

New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The 18th BRICS Summit is set to take place on September 12 and 13 in New Delhi, bringing together top leaders from member nations, partner countries, regional organizations, and international institutions. This significant event will feature heads of state, prime ministers, foreign ministers, and leaders from various global organizations.

Notable attendees include Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali.

From Brazil, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira will represent the country, while Saudi Arabia will be led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The United Arab Emirates will be represented by Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

In addition to the BRICS members, representatives from ten partner countries will also participate. These include Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima, Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Rose Epel Alupo, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov, Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Belarus’s Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, and Bolivia’s diplomatic representative Arlet Gabriela Bustamante García in India.

The summit will also see participation from leaders of five major regional organizations. These include Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. from ASEAN, Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye from the African Union, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani from the Gulf Cooperation Council, Uruguay’s Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin from CELAC, and Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev representing the Eurasian Economic Union.

Additionally, prominent leaders from several international organizations will be in attendance, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, NDB President Dilma Rousseff, AIIB President Zhou Xiaoyi, ISA Director-General Ashish Khanna, and CDRI Director-General Amit Prothi.

Under India’s presidency, this summit will serve as a crucial platform for discussions on significant issues such as global south cooperation, multilateral partnerships, trade, finance, climate change, health, and development among member and partner nations.
