New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims and Chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network, met with President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. During their discussion, President Murmu praised the work of the Aga Khan Development Network, highlighting its role in enhancing the quality of life for communities in collaboration with the government.
The President’s office shared details of the meeting on social media platform X, stating, “Prince Rahim Aga Khan V met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President commended the efforts of the Aga Khan Development Network, emphasizing how nonprofit organizations working alongside the government can improve people’s lives.”
Earlier in the day, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan also met with Aga Khan to discuss strengthening cooperation between India and the Aga Khan Development Network in various sectors, including sports and education. Both leaders reiterated the importance of eliminating extremism and emphasized that dialogue is the key to peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
The Vice President’s office posted on X, “Prince Rahim Aga Khan V met with Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Vice President’s residence. They discussed the contributions of the Aga Khan Development Network in water and sanitation, women-led self-help groups, education, and community development, as well as its impactful work in East Africa and Afghanistan.”
Additionally, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, where they explored ways to deepen collaboration in healthcare, agriculture, rural development, and youth and women’s empowerment.
Following the meeting, Prime Minister Modi tweeted, “It was a pleasure to meet Prince Rahim Aga Khan V. I remembered his father, the late Aga Khan IV, and his significant contributions to development work. We discussed ways to strengthen our partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network in healthcare, agriculture, rural development, and youth and women’s empowerment.”
