Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : In Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China, an inaugural meeting was held to establish an international coalition aimed at combating telecommunications and internet fraud. This significant event brought together representatives from 46 founding countries, 34 observer nations, and four international organizations, including the United Nations and Interpol.
During the meeting, delegates from China and the founding countries, which include Vietnam, Laos, Kenya, Cambodia, Pakistan, and Russia, delivered speeches. An Interpol representative also sent a congratulatory message. All parties expressed high regard for China’s sense of responsibility in initiating the coalition and acknowledged its critical role in maintaining global public safety. They voiced confidence and expectations regarding the coalition’s ability to curb the global spread of telecommunications and internet fraud.
A joint statement titled “Establishment of the International Coalition to Combat Telecommunications and Internet Fraud” was released by all parties. The statement emphasized that telecommunications fraud is becoming a global issue and highlighted the necessity of creating a more focused, professional, efficient, and action-oriented intergovernmental organization based on international agreements. This coalition aims to collectively address and combat telecommunications fraud and related crimes, ensuring the safety and legitimate rights of citizens, legal entities, and organizations across all nations. Based on a shared vision and consensus, all parties agreed to commence the establishment of this international coalition to tackle telecommunications fraud.
