Bhopal, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Mohan Yadav recently engaged with farmers in Bundelkhand, a region often associated with water scarcity, during a virtual address at the Balram Agricultural Festival. He emphasized the importance of the Ken-Betwa River Linking Project, which aims to transform the agricultural landscape of the area.
Speaking from his residence, Yadav stated that the prosperity of farmers directly contributes to the nation’s overall wealth. The Madhya Pradesh government is prioritizing the provision of essential facilities to enhance farmers’ livelihoods.
Yadav noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Ken-Betwa inter-state river linking project to improve irrigation and boost agricultural production. He expressed confidence that this initiative would significantly change the future of Bundelkhand.
He highlighted the craftsmanship of artisans in Tikamgarh, known for their brass sculptures, and praised the agricultural developments in the district as exemplary for others to follow.
During the discussion, Yadav acknowledged the hard work and innovative practices of farmers involved in advanced agriculture. He congratulated Vishnu Sharma Anantpura for his achievements in vegetable production, polyhouse construction, and managing a cow shelter.
Farmer Balchand Ahirwar shared his experience with natural farming, which has attracted around 250 fellow farmers. Manohar Lodhi and Shashi Lodhi also contributed insights into their experiences with organic farming. Jagdish Ahirwar detailed his flower cultivation efforts, particularly strawberries, watermelons, lemons, and guavas, across 15 acres.
Ahirwar mentioned that he receives guidance from the horticulture department and provides employment to two dozen individuals while also benefiting from dairy production through the care of 15 cows.
Ramesh Yadav, another farmer, reported that he has been producing seeds since 2005, achieving a capacity of approximately 300,000 quintals. Sunita Bundela informed the Chief Minister about her beekeeping efforts, currently operating five centers that yield significant economic benefits through hard work.
This conversation reflects the ongoing commitment to agricultural innovation and the potential for economic growth in Bundelkhand.
