New Delhi, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) convened meetings with various civic agencies and heritage conservation organizations to ensure the effective implementation of the Master Plan for Delhi 2047 (MPD 2047). Under the direction of Lieutenant Governor and DDA Chairman T.S. Sandhu, these discussions aimed to foster collaboration among stakeholders.
The third stakeholder meeting took place recently, bringing together representatives from architecture firms involved in heritage preservation, Delhi Tourism, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), INTACH, the Archaeology Department, the Indraprastha Heritage Redevelopment Corporation (IVPN), the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC), the Delhi Fire Service, and the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India.
In the previous meeting, representatives from several government stakeholders and service-providing agencies participated, including the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). Other attendees included the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the Delhi Police, and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).
Additionally, representatives from various departments of the Delhi government, such as the Public Works Department (PWD), the Electricity Department, the Land and Building Department, the Fire Department, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department (IAFC), and the Forest Department, also attended the meetings. Other agencies, including Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), and the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), were present as well.
The DDA had previously held discussions with public representatives, members of Parliament, and members of the Delhi Assembly. During these meetings, the DDA provided insights into the key provisions of MPD 2047, followed by in-depth discussions on various aspects of its implementation and coordination among stakeholders.
The sessions also allowed for questions and clarifications regarding the provisions of the master plan. Stakeholders shared their thoughts, suggestions, and feedback on the implementation of MPD 2047 and inter-departmental coordination. This engagement forms part of a larger stakeholder engagement initiative by the DDA.
Over the next three months, approximately 20 such meetings are planned, involving a diverse range of stakeholder groups, including government agencies, service providers, industry bodies, architects, planners, residents, group housing representatives, farmers, landowners, market and trade associations, conservation organizations, transport agencies, and representatives from the education and healthcare sectors.
These meetings will address various issues under MPD 2047, such as land pooling, redevelopment of group housing, low-density areas, the Yamuna river and blue-green zones, heritage conservation, mixed-use and commercial areas, in-situ redevelopment of slums, crowd reduction, and the development of educational and medical hubs.
