BJP Criticizes Punjab Police for Failing to Secure MPs Residences

Chandigarh, April 26: The BJP’s National General Secretary, Tarun Chugh, criticized the Punjab Police on Sunday for their failure to secure the residences of MPs against alleged attacks by political thugs associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Chugh reprimanded the state’s Director General of Police, stating that if the Punjab Police cannot ensure the safety of representatives holding constitutional positions, it is time for central security forces to step in and take responsibility.

He further alleged that the AAP in Punjab is in complete disarray, with numerous prominent leaders leaving the party due to its unethical and corrupt practices. Chugh pointed out that recent incidents involving Rajya Sabha MPs from Punjab have highlighted the party’s failure to fulfill its promises.

He claimed that under AAP’s governance, Punjab has become a state dominated by mafias and gangsters, where anti-national elements operate freely amidst the party’s petty politics.

Meanwhile, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar raised concerns about a potential scam involving the purchase of old gunny bags by the government. He has written to Union Food Supply Minister Pralhad Joshi, demanding an investigation.

Jakhar stated that old gunny bags are available in the market for approximately ₹22 each, yet the AAP government allegedly purchased them for ₹43.89 each, despite claiming to be highly honest. He emphasized that allegations of corruption have emerged in this matter, warranting an investigation.

In his letter, Jakhar noted that under the Decentralized Procurement Scheme (DCP), the Punjab government is using old gunny bags for wheat filling. However, the expenditure on these old bags raises serious concerns about corruption.

He further mentioned that while old bags are available in the market for around ₹22 each, the government is reportedly buying them for about ₹43.89 each. Jakhar indicated that this discrepancy suggests a significant possibility of kickbacks and corruption throughout the process.
