Tehran, May 25: Iranian President Masoud Pagehshkian stated on Sunday that Iran is ready to assure the world that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons. He emphasized that his country does not desire unrest, but accused the Israeli regime of exploiting every opportunity to perpetuate war and chaos.
According to a report by Iran’s state news agency IRNA, Pagehshkian remarked, “The government’s priority is to secure the livelihoods of the people. Despite challenges, officials are working around the clock to meet the needs of the citizens.”
Regarding recent discussions between Tehran and Washington, Pagehshkian affirmed, “We declare that we are prepared to assure the world that we do not want nuclear weapons. It is the Israeli regime that is attempting to destabilize this region, working on the ‘Greater Israel’ plan.”
He expressed gratitude to the Iranian people for their savings and urged them to consider efficiency in energy and fuel usage.
The report also mentioned that during a meeting with managers of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) on Sunday, Pagehshkian stated that no decisions would be made outside the framework of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) without coordination and approval from the Supreme Leader.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during a joint press conference with Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in New Delhi, noted significant progress in diplomatic efforts between the U.S. and Iran. He hinted that good news regarding the Strait of Hormuz could emerge in the coming hours.
Rubio reiterated U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons.
