
New Delhi, May 25: The Outer North District Special Team of the Delhi Police has successfully dismantled an inter-state cannabis supply module operating in the Bawana area. Authorities arrested one suspect and seized over 90.225 kilograms of cannabis from his residence.
The arrested individual has been identified as Abdul Rahman, also known as Bablu, a resident of Bawana village in Delhi. According to police reports, Rahman has been involved in cannabis trafficking for an extended period, supplying the drug to various locations across Delhi.
On May 20, police received a tip-off indicating that Rahman was distributing cannabis from his home. Following this information, the Anti-Drug Task Force (AATS) team, led by Inspector Anand Kumar Jha and ACP Operations Dinesh Kumar, conducted a raid.
On May 21, the police team, accompanied by the informant, arrived at Bawana village. At approximately 10:35 AM, they identified and apprehended the suspect outside his home. A subsequent search of the premises revealed four bags of cannabis hidden inside a deep freezer in one of the rooms.
Field testing confirmed the substance as cannabis, with a total weight of 90.225 kilograms. An FIR under sections 20/25 of the NDPS Act was registered at Bawana police station, leading to Rahman’s arrest.
During interrogation, Rahman disclosed that he had been involved in cannabis trafficking for several years alongside his associates. He revealed that the cannabis was sourced from the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border and illegally supplied in Delhi.
According to police, Rahman was responsible for delivering cannabis to local suppliers and receivers in the Seemapuri and Bawana areas. He has a prior record under the NDPS Act in Malkangiri district, Odisha.
Currently, the police are investigating the entire inter-state drug trafficking network. They are actively searching for additional suspects and working to identify other individuals connected to the supply chain.
