Srinagar, May 25: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the tragic murder of a minor girl in Budgam district. He described the incident as shocking and painful. Abdullah emphasized the need to reflect on the direction society is heading, where even young children are not safe.
He condemned the brutal act and extended his condolences to the victim’s family, praying for the girl’s place in paradise.
Abdullah assured that his government would provide full support to investigative agencies to ensure that the perpetrators receive the harshest punishment.
The discovery of the girl’s body on Sunday sent shockwaves through Jammu and Kashmir. The 12-year-old had gone missing on Saturday, and her body was found just a short distance from her home.
Budgam’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Hariprasad K.K., informed reporters that a case of kidnapping had been registered, and a search operation was underway. Unfortunately, the girl’s body was found the following morning. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and initial investigations suggest it is a case of rape and murder. Relevant sections of the law have been added to the FIR.
