Over 744,000 Pilgrims Visit Gangotri and Yamunotri Temples This Season

Uttarkashi, May 25: The pilgrimage to the sacred shrines of Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarkashi continues to thrive, attracting over 744,000 visitors since the opening of the doors. The Char Dham Yatra, marked by faith and well-organized arrangements, has seen a steady influx of pilgrims from across the country and abroad. Thanks to extensive preparations by the district administration, the journey is being conducted safely and smoothly.

Under the guidance of District Magistrate Prashant Arya, special arrangements have been made for route management, trekking facilities, health services, and traffic control to ensure the safety and convenience of the pilgrims. The deployment of administrative officials and police forces has helped maintain order along the pilgrimage routes.

As of Sunday evening at 6:30 PM, a total of 36,186 pilgrims had visited both shrines, with 18,885 at Yamunotri and 17,301 at Gangotri. This brings the total number of visitors for the current season to 744,379.

The administration remains vigilant regarding the smooth operation of vehicles. On Sunday, 3,590 vehicles were recorded traveling safely to both shrines, including 986 large vehicles and 2,604 small ones. Specifically, 1,940 vehicles headed to Yamunotri and 1,650 to Gangotri. So far, transportation services have been provided for a total of 72,440 vehicles along the pilgrimage routes.

To maintain traffic order, additional police forces and nodal officers have been stationed at sensitive locations. The administration is continuously monitoring the situation to ensure that pilgrims face no inconveniences.

The health department is prioritizing the safety of travelers by conducting regular health screenings and testing camps. On Sunday alone, 8,829 pilgrims underwent health screenings, while 187 received thorough health examinations. Of these, 5,868 were screened on the Yamunotri route and 2,961 on the Gangotri route.

In this travel season, a total of 191,926 pilgrims have been screened, and 16,601 have undergone successful health tests. The health department is continuously providing monitoring and medical services to prevent any health issues for travelers in the high Himalayan regions.
