Bhopal, May 25: Under the guidance of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has taken significant steps to enhance the legal and administrative framework of the board. This initiative aims to ensure the protection of Waqf properties, promote transparent management, and utilize these assets for the public good through the effective implementation of the new Waqf Act.
The board has successfully removed illegal occupants from Waqf properties and focused on providing employment opportunities to those in need following a physical verification process. Discussions with Waqf committees from other states have been held to explore ways to increase revenue from Waqf properties. The Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has achieved the distinction of being the first in the country to register Waqf properties on the Ummeed portal, resulting in the board receiving the prestigious Skotch Award.
Dr. Sanwar Patel, the president of the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board, stated that following the implementation of the Waqf Amendment Act, the board has initiated several transformative social projects under CM Mohan Yadav’s leadership. As a result of these efforts, 1,552 students have been prevented from dropping out of school, with financial assistance provided to help them continue their education. The new Waqf Act has opened new avenues for the youth in society.
On May 25, CM Mohan Yadav will honor 849 meritorious students from Bhopal with scholarships at Ravindra Bhavan. This initiative marks the beginning of a program where the Waqf Board will award scholarships to deserving students across all districts in Madhya Pradesh. Following discussions on innovative programs like “Padhho Padhao – Be a Partner in Nation Building,” several states are sending their officials to the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board’s office to understand its operational style and initiatives.
The effective implementation of the new Waqf Act has provided the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board with legal and administrative strength. A rigorous campaign against Waqf mafia, corrupt managers, and illegal occupants has been launched. Significant steps have been taken to free Waqf properties from corrupt hands and ensure clean and accountable management. Legal actions have been initiated against elements that harm Waqf properties by operating parallel boards.
Notices for recovery exceeding ₹41 crore have been issued against managers who have caused losses to the Waqf. A recovery notice for ₹28.96 crore has been issued to the manager of Waqf Yatimkhana Shahjahan, which is considered the largest recovery notice in the history of Waqf in India. Actions have also been taken against the management of Waqf Madar Gate Ujjain for ₹7.21 crore, and notices for ₹1.84 crore and ₹1.24 crore have been issued against the managers of Waqf Jama Masjid and Waqf Barwali Chowki, Indore, respectively.
Additionally, a recovery notice for ₹1.05 crore has been issued against the management of Waqf Hindu Orphanage, Bhopal. Notices have also been issued to recover ₹81.43 lakh lost due to the former president of Waqf Anjuman Islamia, Pyare Sahab. These actions demonstrate the new Waqf Board’s commitment to the security, transparency, and accountability of Waqf properties. Strict legal actions against anyone harming Waqf properties, including mafia and corrupt management, will continue.
The new amendment law has compelled illegal occupants of Waqf properties to reconsider their positions. With all properties registered online, the potential for misconduct has been minimized, instilling fear among Waqf mafia. The digitization of Waqf properties has ensured a transparent system, discouraging unethical activities. Timely auctions of agricultural lands have increased revenue, and the positive results are evident across society.
Dr. Sanwar Patel announced that for the first time in the history of the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board, a goal of planting five lakh trees on Waqf lands across the state has been set to promote environmental conservation. Citizens are encouraged to plant a tree in the name of their ancestors. Responsibilities for the care of these plants will be assigned by district, and those who perform well will be rewarded.
