New Delhi, May 25: U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is currently on a four-day official visit to India. On the second day of his trip, a National Day reception was held at the U.S. Embassy in the national capital, New Delhi. During the event, U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, received a call from President Donald Trump.
In his conversation, Trump expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Modi, stating, “I am a big fan of Prime Minister Modi.”
Ambassador Gore began his speech by announcing, “Before I give my speech, I have a special guest on the line. Can you hear us, Mr. President?”
Trump responded, “I know you are there, and I hope you give a great speech. You should represent our country well, Sergio. I just want to say hello to everyone. I really like Prime Minister Modi. He is a great person and my friend. I want to wish everyone a very good evening. We have never been closer to India, and India can trust me and our country 100 percent. If they ever need help, they know where to call. We are doing well. We are breaking records. We have a record economy, a record stock market, and India gets everything it wants.”
The ambassador mentioned Marco Rubio, to which Trump replied, “Marco is the greatest. He will be known as the best Secretary of State in American history, and that is a good thing. You have some great people. When you have Marco and Sergio, you achieve great things. This is a big deal. It is a good time.”
He concluded, “I know you will represent us well, and I hope everyone enjoys their evening. It is an honor for me to say hello to Prime Minister Modi and let him know that I am a big fan of his.”
