TMC Faces Major Setback as Leaders Defect Amid Political Turmoil

New Delhi, June 4: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has suffered a significant blow following the recognition of Ritabrata Banerjee as the leader of the opposition on June 3. This political upheaval in West Bengal has prompted reactions from various leaders.

BJP MP Dinesh Sharma remarked that TMC has transformed from a political party into a group embroiled in corruption, exploitation, and abuse of power. He criticized the party for being controlled by a single family while working against different segments of society for their own benefit.

Sharma stated that the discontent within TMC is a reaction against a system that has led to lawlessness, infiltration, and the oppression of women in Bengal. He pointed out that Abhishek Banerjee has become isolated within his party, as evidenced by the lack of support following attacks against him.

Om Prakash Rajbhar added that the dictatorial, Hitler-like attitude and thuggery prevalent in TMC have driven people away, including voters. With the BJP now in power, TMC leaders are seeking change and forming separate factions.

JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar commented on Mamata Banerjee’s statement that anyone wishing to leave the party is free to do so, calling it arrogance. He warned that this hubris could lead to not only mayors but also MLAs abandoning the party, and even staff members might refuse to work for them.

BJP leader T.R. Srinivasan likened the turmoil within TMC to a web series unfolding in West Bengal. Each situation and event is peeling back layers, revealing new stories daily. Reports suggest that some of Kolkata’s most powerful leaders may soon distance themselves from the current political equation.
