New Delhi, June 4: A devastating fire in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi, on Wednesday resulted in the tragic deaths of 21 individuals, leaving the community in shock. Authorities have ordered the closure of another hotel in the vicinity, instructing guests to vacate the premises. Responses to this horrific incident are pouring in.
Mohammad Shameem from the Revenue Department stated, “We are issuing notices. All hotels under our jurisdiction, particularly those in the Malviya Nagar area, are currently under investigation. We are assessing whether these establishments are conducting any commercial activities.”
Suresh Khanna, a minister from the Uttar Pradesh government, expressed his sorrow during a press briefing, calling the Delhi incident deeply tragic. He emphasized the need for ongoing directives to prevent such disasters and mentioned that instructions would be given today to the district magistrate and other relevant officials.
Ramkishore Sharma, the chairman of the South Shahdara zone, extended his condolences to the families of the 21 victims. He prayed for peace for the departed souls and insisted that all hotels, OYO properties, and guesthouses in the South Shahdara zone must undergo thorough inspections before being granted licenses.
A Nepalese citizen who traveled to Delhi for medical treatment shared his experience, stating, “I came to Max Hospital from Nepal and was staying at ‘Green Resort,’ which is near the hotel that caught fire. Due to government policy, all hotels in this area have been shut down. Therefore, I am now looking for another hotel.”
